Shimmer Mist on Distress Oxide

I created this card for my 16-year old son who is taking his ACT test today. I hope he feels the love and support from his family through this created card.

I started by embossing the Paper Smooches Cross Stitch metal die on a 4 ¼”x 5 ½” black cardstock panel. I used an embossing mat for this. I taped the metal die to the black cardstock with washi tape to avoid shifting while I run this through the Sizzix Big Shot machine. My cutting pads are old, so I had to run my sandwiched paper and die twice to achieve the impression I want. I splattered Copic Opaque white ink to this black cardstock. The Copic Opaque is a bit thick so I have to add a little bit of water to dilute it and be able to flick it with a paintbrush from an acrylic block. I dabbed off some of the big splotches, then set this aside to dry.

I positioned the Altenew Halftone Star metal dies on this black embossed panel.  I taped the dies using washi tape then run it through the Sizzix Big Shot die cut machine.

I cut a white cardstock at 4 ¼”x 5 ½”. I lightly traced the stars on the black panel on this white cardstock. I used this traced lines as a guide to blend ink on this area using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide but I have to erase the pencil lines first before ink blending. I used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Worn Lipstick and Wilted Violet. I set this aside to dry.

I aligned the black panel on top of the ink blended white cardstock with washi tape. Using the Misti Stamping Tool, I matched the star stamp to the negative space cut star on the black cardstock. After I closed the Misti door over the clear stamps, and the star stamps are positioned on the Mist door, I removed the black cardstock. I spritz the clear stamps with Prima Frost Color Bloom protecting the ink blended card from being spritz on. I dabbed off the excess spritz shimmer mist with a paper towel. I did not want the stamps to be too wet and lose its details. I closed the Misti door to the inked cardstock panel. I repeated this process once more. I set this aside to dry but you can also heat set it. Make sure to clean the stamps and wiping off the excess shimmer mist.

I heat embossed the sentiment using Versafine Onyx black ink and clear embossing powder. I placed foam adhesives to the back of the black cardstock then adhered this to the white inked panel. I then adhered this to a top folding A2 note card.

I adhered Studio Calico white star sequins and added white Ranger Enamel Accents to the center to cover the hole of the sequin.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Have a blessed and brilliant day! Best of luck to my son, Rudy!
